Category: Antibacterial (Lincosamide class) Indications For use in dogs in the treatment of: Infected wounds and abscesses Dental and oral cavity infections Antimicrobial cover during dental procedures Superficial pyoderma (Staphylococcus intermedius) Osteomyelitis (Staphylococcus aureus) Benefits Effective against gram-positive and anaerobic bacteria Rapid onset of action with therapeutic serum levels in 30–75 minutes Provides antimicrobial cover before and after dental procedures Suitable for skin, deep tissue, and bone infections Palatable Yum-Tab! formulation for ease of use Dosage & Administration For oral administration in dogs only Wounds, abscesses & dental infections 5.5 mg/kg every 12 hours OR 11 mg/kg every 24 hours for 7–10 days For dental cover: 10-day course (5 days before and 5 days after procedure) Superficial pyoderma 5.5 mg/kg every 12 hours OR 11 mg/kg every 24 hours for 21 days (extend if required) Osteomyelitis 11 mg/kg every 12 hours for at least 28 days Stop if no improvement within 14 days Dosage Example (Goclin™ 150 mg): 13.5 kg dog → ½ tablet twice daily OR 1 tablet once daily 20 kg dog → ~1½ tablets daily (split as per schedule) Contraindications & Warnings Do not use in animals hypersensitive to clindamycin or lincomycin. Contraindicated in rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, chinchillas, horses, and ruminants (severe GI effects). Do not use with erythromycin, chloramphenicol, or other macrolides (antagonism). Use cautiously in dogs with severe renal or hepatic impairment; monitor blood parameters during long-term therapy. Risk of overgrowth of resistant organisms (e.g., clostridia, yeasts). Safety not established in pregnant or breeding dogs. May enhance the effect of neuromuscular blocking agents. Adverse Reactions Occasional vomiting or diarrhea Rare risk of superinfection Overdosage No specific antidote; treatment is symptomatic. Storage Store in a cool, dry place. Keep away from children.
