WHAT IS MANKIND EXTICK POWDER?
Extick is a veterinary ectoparasiticide powder manufactured by Pet Mankind — a division of Mankind Pharmaceuticals. It is a multi-action topical powder that simultaneously kills external parasites, controls fungal infections on the coat, and deodorises the pet's skin and fur.
Unlike tick sprays and spot-on solutions, Extick powder is easy to apply without restraint, making it practical for pet owners managing tick infestations at home.
WHAT EXTICK POWDER TREATS
Ticks
Ticks transmit life-threatening diseases including Tick Fever (Ehrlichiosis), Babesiosis, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Extick kills ticks on contact and reduces reinfestation when applied regularly.
Fleas
Fleas cause intense itching, flea allergy dermatitis, and can transmit tapeworms. Flea infestations spread rapidly in Indian conditions — especially during monsoon and humid months.
Sucking and Biting Lice
Lice infestations cause severe scratching, coat damage, and anaemia in heavy infestations — particularly in puppies. Extick controls both sucking and biting lice on dogs and cats.
Fungal Infections on Coat
The antifungal component targets dermatophytes and surface fungi that cause ringworm, dandruff, and coat odour in dogs — particularly useful in humid Indian conditions.
Bacterial Odour
The deodorizer component kills odour-causing bacteria on the pet's coat, providing long-lasting freshness between baths.
HOW TO USE EXTICK POWDER
- Part the coat to expose the skin surface
- Sprinkle powder evenly — focus on neck, back, tail base, between toes, and underbelly
- Massage gently into the coat to ensure contact with skin
- Avoid eyes, nose, and mouth
-
Do not bathe the pet for at least 48 hours after application
- Repeat every 7–10 days during active tick season
TICK SEASON IN INDIA
Tick infestations in India peak during two periods — March to June (pre-monsoon) and August to October (post-monsoon). Dogs that spend time outdoors or live in ground-floor homes are at year-round risk. Regular preventive use of Extick powder between veterinary-grade spot-on treatments significantly reduces overall tick burden.
IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS
- For external use only — keep away from eyes, nose, and mouth
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
- Wash hands thoroughly after application
- Not a replacement for veterinary-grade systemic tick treatments in cases of heavy infestation

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS — MANKIND EXTICK POWDER
How often should I apply Extick powder on my dog? ▼
Apply every 7–10 days during tick season. In high-risk areas or during peak tick months (March–June and August–October), weekly application gives the best protection. Always wait at least 48 hours after bathing before applying, and do not bathe within 48 hours after applying.
Can Extick powder replace Bravecto or Simparica for tick prevention? ▼
Not in cases of heavy infestation. Systemic treatments like Bravecto and Simparica work from inside the bloodstream and are more powerful for serious tick problems. Extick powder works best as a preventive measure and as a complement to systemic treatment — not as a standalone replacement when ticks are already a significant problem.
Is Extick powder safe for puppies? ▼
Use sparingly on puppies and consult your vet for puppies under 8 weeks of age. For older puppies, apply a small amount and monitor for any skin reaction. Keep away from the puppy's face, eyes, and mouth at all times.
My dog already has ticks. Will Extick powder remove them? ▼
Extick powder kills ticks on contact when applied correctly. However, for a heavy infestation, we recommend manually removing attached ticks first using tick removal tweezers, then applying Extick powder to kill remaining ticks and prevent new ones from attaching. For severe infestations, consult your vet about systemic treatment.
Can Extick be used on cats? ▼
Yes, Extick is formulated for both dogs and cats. Apply sparingly on cats and ensure they cannot lick the powder from their coat during application. Keep well away from the face. If your cat shows any signs of irritation, discontinue use.
