CEPHAVET 600 mg is a film-coated chewable antibiotic tablet containing Cephalexin, a β-lactam, broad-spectrum antibiotic. It is used for the treatment of secondary bacterial pyoderma, urinary tract infections, respiratory infections, and bone & joint infections in dogs. Cephalexin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, targeting Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., E. coli, Proteus, and Klebsiella effectively.

Indications / Uses

  • Secondary superficial bacterial pyoderma (Staphylococcus pseudintermedius)

    • 30–45 kg → 2 tablets twice daily

    • 45–60 kg → 2½ tablets twice daily
      Adjust as per veterinary guidance and culture & sensitivity results

Contraindications

  • Dogs with known allergy to cephalexin or β-lactam antibiotics

  • Not for human use

Warnings & Precautions

  • Use with caution in pregnant, lactating, or breeding dogs; safety not established

  • Monitor dogs for allergic reactions or gastrointestinal disturbances

  • Keep out of reach of children

Adverse Reactions

  • Vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite

  • Rare allergic reactions: rash, hives, swelling of lips/tongue/face, unusual bleeding
