Composition

  • Each uncoated tablet contains:

    • Clindamycin Hydrochloride USP equivalent to Clindamycin 300 mg

    • Excipients q.s.

Indications

For use in dogs in the treatment of:

  • Infected wounds and abscesses

  • Dental and oral cavity infections

  • Antimicrobial prophylaxis during dental procedures

  • Superficial pyoderma caused by Staphylococcus intermedius

  • Osteomyelitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus

Dosage & Administration

For oral administration in dogs only

  1. Wounds, abscesses & dental infections

  • 5.5 mg/kg every 12 hours OR 11 mg/kg every 24 hours for 7–10 days

  • For dental cover: 10-day course (5 days before and 5 days after procedure)

  1. Superficial pyoderma

  • 5.5 mg/kg every 12 hours OR 11 mg/kg every 24 hours for 21 days (extend if necessary)

  1. Osteomyelitis

  • 11 mg/kg every 12 hours for at least 28 days

  • Discontinue if no improvement within 14 days

Dosage Example (Goclin™ 300 mg):

  • 27 kg dog → ½ tablet twice daily OR 1 tablet once daily

  • 40 kg dog → ~1½ tablets daily (split as per schedule)

Contraindications & Warnings

  • Do not use in animals hypersensitive to clindamycin or lincomycin.

  • Contraindicated in rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, chinchillas, horses, and ruminants due to risk of fatal GI disturbances.

  • Avoid use with erythromycin, chloramphenicol, or other macrolides (pharmacological antagonism).

  • Caution in dogs with renal or hepatic impairment; monitor liver/kidney function in prolonged therapy.

  • Risk of resistant bacterial or fungal overgrowth with long-term use.

  • Safety not established in pregnant or breeding dogs.

  • Can enhance neuromuscular blockade with anesthetic drugs.

Adverse Reactions

  • Rare gastrointestinal upset (vomiting, diarrhea)

  • Occasional risk of secondary superinfection

Overdosage

  • No antidote; treat symptomatically.

Store in a cool, dry place. Keep away from children.
