WHAT IS SIMPARICA TRIO?
Simparica Trio is a monthly chewable tablet manufactured by Zoetis, combining three active ingredients for comprehensive parasite protection in a single dose. It replaces the need for separate flea, tick, heartworm, and deworming treatments — making it one of the most complete parasite prevention products available for dogs in India.

WEIGHT VARIANTS
Simparica Trio comes in six weight-band variants. Selecting the correct variant is critical — underdosing reduces efficacy, and overdosing risks adverse effects. Confirm the correct pack with your vet at each weight check.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
- Administer once monthly with food or just after a meal
- Sarolaner absorption is enhanced with food — administering on an empty stomach reduces efficacy
- The liver-flavoured chewable is accepted voluntarily by most dogs
- If the dog refuses, place inside a small piece of food — ensure the complete tablet is consumed
IMPORTANT — HEARTWORM TESTING BEFORE STARTING
Dogs over 6 months of age must be tested for existing heartworm infection before starting Simparica Trio. Administering a heartworm preventive to a dog with an active heartworm infestation can cause a severe adverse reaction. Your vet will conduct the appropriate test before prescribing.

- Prescription required

Frequently Asked Questions — Simparica Trio for Dogs
What does Simparica Trio protect against? ▼
Simparica Trio is a monthly chewable tablet combining three active ingredients. Sarolaner kills fleas and ticks. Moxidectin prevents heartworm disease and treats roundworms and hookworms. Pyrantel Pamoate provides additional coverage against roundworms and hookworms. Together they protect against fleas, five tick species, heartworm, and key intestinal worms — replacing the need for multiple separate treatments.
How does Simparica Trio differ from regular Simparica? ▼
Regular Simparica contains only sarolaner — it protects against fleas and ticks only. Simparica Trio adds moxidectin and pyrantel, extending protection to include heartworm prevention and intestinal worm control. If your dog is already on a monthly heartworm tablet and a separate flea/tick treatment, Simparica Trio can replace both in a single monthly dose.
Does Simparica Trio prevent heartworm disease in India? ▼
Yes — the moxidectin component prevents heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis) when given monthly. Heartworm is transmitted by mosquitoes and is present across India, particularly in coastal and high-humidity regions. Before starting, dogs over 6 months of age must be tested for existing heartworm infection — administering a preventive to a dog with active heartworm can cause a severe adverse reaction.
Can Simparica Trio be given to puppies? ▼
Simparica Trio is approved for puppies aged 8 weeks and older, weighing at least 1.25 kg. Select the correct weight-band variant — Simparica Trio comes in six weight ranges. Administering the wrong variant leads to underdosing (loss of efficacy) or overdosing (risk of toxicity). Confirm the correct pack with your vet at each weight-based dosing check.
Does Simparica Trio cover tapeworms? ▼
No — Simparica Trio does not treat tapeworms. It covers roundworms and hookworms through its pyrantel and moxidectin components, but tapeworms require praziquantel, which is not present in Simparica Trio. If your dog has tapeworm risk — dogs with flea exposure or those that hunt rodents — your vet may prescribe a separate praziquantel-based dewormer alongside Simparica Trio.
Should Simparica Trio be given with food? ▼a small piece of food inside
Yes — administering Simparica Trio with food or immediately after a meal improves sarolaner absorption and reduces the chance of gastrointestinal side effects. The liver-flavoured chewable is accepted voluntarily by most dogs. If your dog is reluctant, place it inside a small piece of food. Ensure the complete tablet is consumed — do not split unless specifically advised by your vet.
