Savavet Aceptor 2.5 (Benazepril 2.5mg / Hydrochloride) Tablet for Dogs and Cats (1 X10 tablets)

Description

ACEPTOR® 2.5 contains Benazepril Hydrochloride (2.5 mg), a potent angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor used in veterinary medicine. After oral administration, it converts to its active form, benazeprilat, which helps lower blood pressure by inhibiting the formation of angiotensin II—reducing vessel constriction and aldosterone-mediated fluid retention. This makes it especially useful for managing heart and kidney-related conditions.

    • Adjunct therapy in chronic kidney disease and protein-losing nephropathy

    • Supporting treatment in valvular heart conditions or shunts

  • Cats:

    • Systemic hypertension

    • Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (adjunctive)

    • Reducing proteinuria in chronic kidney disease

    • Enhancing appetite and well-being in renal insufficiency

Key Benefits

  • Supports kidney function by improving filtration and blood flow

  • Convenient low-dose allows precise adjustment based on weight

  • Once- or twice-daily dosing enhances compliance

  • Generally well-tolerated in both dogs and cats

Dosage & Administration

  • Dose: 0.25–0.5 mg/kg orally, once or twice daily (as directed by a vet)

    • Example: A 10-kg dog or cat would require 2.5–5 mg—making the 2.5 mg tablet ideal for dosing flexibility.

  • Follow your veterinarian’s guidance on duration and dosing intervals.

Warnings & Precautions

  • Avoid use in animals with known hypersensitivity to ACE inhibitors

  • Use cautiously in cases of sodium depletion, low blood pressure, or compromised blood flow

  • Close monitoring is advised in severe heart failure or pre-existing vascular issues

  • Not recommended during pregnancy unless benefits clearly outweigh risks

Possible Side Effects

  • Hypotension, especially if combined with diuretics

  • Renal impairment or elevated potassium levels in susceptible individuals

  • In overdose studies in healthy cats, only increased appetite and weight gain were noted

Drug Interactions

  • Aspirin: May reduce beneficial blood vessel dilation

  • Diuretics (e.g., furosemide): Can lead to stronger blood pressure drops—vet may reduce dose

  • Potassium-rich medications/supplements: Increased risk of hyperkalemia

  • Insulin/oral hypoglycemics: Monitor closely for potential hypoglycemia

  • Lithium: May raise lithium blood levels—monitor carefully

Storage

Keep in a cool, dry place below 30 °C, away from sunlight and moisture. Store out of reach of children. For veterinary use only—not intended for humans.
