ABOUT KISKIN CREAM AND LOTION
Kiskin Cream and Lotion by Intas is a veterinary topical skin treatment range for dogs and cats prescribed to address fungal infections, bacterial infections, inflammation, and associated skin conditions simultaneously. Both the cream and lotion contain the same four active ingredients — Clobetasol Propionate, Ofloxacin, Miconazole Nitrate, and Zinc Sulphate — manufactured by Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd and available in two application formats to suit different skin conditions and body areas.
Kiskin Cream is available in a 20gm tube and is best suited for localised, dry, or scaly skin lesions where a cream base provides sustained contact at the treatment site. Kiskin Lotion is available in 30ml and 100ml bottles and is better suited for larger skin areas, thick-coated dogs, and body surfaces where a fluid formulation spreads and penetrates more effectively through the fur.
KISKIN CREAM AND LOTION USES FOR DOGS AND CATS
Kiskin Cream and Lotion are indicated for the following conditions:
Eczematous dermatosis complicated by simultaneous bacterial and fungal infections on the skin surface.
Allergic dermatitis with secondary bacterial or fungal involvement causing inflammation, redness, and persistent itching.
Pyoderma — bacterial skin infection presenting as pustules, crusted lesions, and inflamed skin in dogs.
Ringworm — circular, scaly, hair-loss patches caused by dermatophyte fungal infection in dogs and cats.
Pruritus — intense and persistent itching caused by fungal, bacterial, or inflammatory skin conditions.
Hot spots — areas of moist, rapidly developing inflamed and infected skin, commonly seen in thick-coated dog breeds.
Wounds with secondary bacterial or fungal contamination requiring both antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory treatment.
Yeast infections of the skin caused by Malassezia and Candida organisms in dogs and cats.
Folliculitis — bacterial infection of the hair follicles presenting as papules, pustules, and crusting on the skin.
Intertrigo — skin fold infections caused by friction and moisture accumulation in areas where skin surfaces overlap.
COMPOSITION OF KISKIN CREAM AND LOTION
Each gram or ml of Kiskin Cream and Lotion contains:
Clobetasol Propionate — 0.025% w/v
A potent topical corticosteroid that reduces inflammation and relieves itching by suppressing the arachidonic acid inflammatory pathway at the infection site. Controls the local immune response and prevents further tissue damage from sustained inflammation.
Ofloxacin — 0.1% w/v
A broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic active against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Eliminates bacterial infection by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV — the enzymes required for bacterial DNA replication and survival.
Miconazole Nitrate — 2.0% w/v
An antifungal agent that destroys fungal organisms by disrupting the structural integrity of the fungal cell membrane through inhibition of ergosterol synthesis. Effective against Malassezia, Candida, and dermatophytes responsible for ringworm and yeast infections in dogs and cats.
Zinc Sulphate — 3.0% w/v
An astringent that tightens and protects damaged skin tissue, reduces weeping and discharge from inflamed or infected surfaces, and provides mild antiseptic support. Promotes skin barrier restoration and accelerates tissue recovery at the treatment site.
CREAM OR LOTION — WHICH FORMAT IS RIGHT FOR YOUR DOG?
Both formats contain the same active ingredients at identical concentrations. The choice depends on the nature and location of the skin condition.
Kiskin Cream in a 20gm tube is suited for small, dry, localised lesions such as a specific patch of ringworm, a confined area of pyoderma, or a wound site requiring targeted treatment. The cream base maintains prolonged contact with the skin surface.
Kiskin Lotion in 30ml or 100ml is suited for larger body areas, thick or long-coated dogs, multiple infection sites, or skin surfaces with active weeping and discharge. The lotion spreads quickly, penetrates through dense fur, and covers wider areas without leaving a heavy residue.
Your veterinarian will advise the appropriate format, pack size, and treatment duration based on your pet's specific condition.
HOW TO APPLY KISKIN CREAM AND LOTION
Clean the affected area or wound thoroughly with a mild antiseptic solution and allow to dry completely.
Part the fur to expose the infected skin surface directly before application.
Apply Kiskin Cream or Lotion onto the affected area in a sufficient quantity to cover the entire infected surface.
Massage gently until fully absorbed.
Apply 3 to 4 times daily or as directed by your veterinarian.
Fit an Elizabethan collar on the dog or cat immediately after application to prevent licking.
Continue for the full prescribed treatment duration, even if symptoms appear to resolve before the course is complete.
DOSAGE AND DURATION
Apply 3 to 4 times daily after proper cleaning of the affected area or wound. Treatment duration is prescribed by your veterinarian based on the type and severity of the infection. Do not self-medicate beyond the recommended course. Long-term unsupervised use of corticosteroid-containing preparations can lead to skin thinning, hormonal effects, and reduced treatment response over time.
PRECAUTIONS
For external use only. Do not allow dogs or cats to ingest the cream or lotion.
Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and open or bleeding wounds.
In case of accidental ingestion, contact your veterinarian immediately.
Safety during pregnancy or lactation has not been established by the manufacturer. Consult your veterinarian before use in pregnant or nursing animals.
Discontinue use and consult a veterinarian if skin irritation worsens or new symptoms appear after application.
